Sapphira Hill

Originally from South England and now based in Wales where having completed my undergrad (Product Design BA) and Masters (Design and MFA) I discovered I had an interest in the taboo and the relationships and connotations that come with different objects, this led me on to my PhD topic.

My PhD title is constantly evolving but currently it has a working title of ‘Creating A Methodology For Product Design To Be A Physical Catalyst To Abstract Gendered Issues’. My research focuses on looking at how objects can be created that question issues facing masculinity, this focuses on ideas revolving around shame in regards to sex and sex toys and how these objects reflect on a user’s masculine identity. By forming a methodology through my case study my aim is that others are able to take this methodology and use it on other abstract ideas.
